should you ship your new puppy or dog?
A lot of people are nervous about flying a pup, but it's really not as big a deal as some people make it out to be.
If your dog is stable, environmentally sound, physically healthy, and stable tempered - travel, driving, and flying will not adversely impact your new pup or dog.
Personally I find it safer to ship a puppy on a moderate length flight than to drive cross country. It takes much longer, but also exposes the pup to strange locations which could contain a variety of diseases that could harm a pup that is not yet fully vaccinated.
All of my pups are extremely stable with excellent temperament. I could not ethically or legally ship a puppy or dog that was not mentally or physically sound enough to withstand the trip. For example, most of the pups from my A litter have gone several states over. We had one fly to Seattle - 10+ hour trip and he didn't soil his crate once. He was happy, had his tail wagging, and was his usual self once he landed. We had another fly to Buffalo - same thing - didn't soil her crate and was happy as a clam. One went to Connecticut, another to Syracuse NY, one to MO - all of them are totally fine with travel and used to car trips.
Travel doesn't upset my pups, and the genetics are solid enough that a car trip or flight will not upset them. I wouldn't worry about transport upsetting a pup. A pup of sound body and mind does not get jarred by transportation!
