Bloat and gastric torsion can occur in dogs - especially certain breeds like the German Shepherd, Great Dane, and Labrador Retriever. Bloat is clinically referred to as Gastric dilatation-volvulus - it is an acute, life-threatening situation. GDV requires immediate medical and surgical attention. Thank you for the information, never knew this. My little feral cat became bloted, his stomach was emptied and they got a litter and a half of fluid. The doctor said he had an advanced liver cancer. We took him to be be put down and stayed with him until they had a tiny casket for him. We took him home and put him where he spent most of his time. I still look for him from time to time.
